Student Internship Job Description

Title - Marketing & Development Intern

Supervision - Director, Marketing

Internship Overview: The intern will assist with the planning, coordinating, and implementation of special events and fundraising efforts. Interns will also support agency communications by contributing to a newsletter, press releases, and website updates. This is an UNPAID internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Event planning for World AIDS Day and other agency events.
  • Mass distribution of invitations and solicitations
  • Marketing of events which may include development of print materials and promotional items, writing newsletter articles, and /or press releases, approaching corporations/organizations for donations/advertisements.
  • Other duties based on intern interest and agency priorities.

Qualifications: Special event planning, marketing, communications, public relations, web development, or advertising student with strong writing, verbal communication and computer skills. Candidate should have a strong ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments. Microsoft Word, Excel and/or Publisher experience is a plus. Intern must have transportation.

Schedule: 10-15 hours per week/ 160-240 hours per semester, hours flexible

    Title - HIV Prevention/Outreach Intern

      Supervision - Community Prevention/Education Coordinator

      Internship Overview: The intern will assist with community prevention through outreach, presentations, and assistance with prevention events. Interns will co-facilitate SISTA a CDC intervention geared towards African American females. This is an UNPAID internship.

      Responsibilities

  • Provide Risk/Harm Reduction counseling in the community.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate community presentations and interventions.
  • Perform outreach at health fairs and local events.
  • Provide weekly and monthly documentation to supervisor.
  • Possibly assist with grant writing.
  • Other duties based on intern interest and agency priorities.
    • Qualifications: Public health, health education, or social service student with strong writing, interpersonal, verbal communication, and public speaking skills. Canditate must work well with diverse populations to include individuals of various age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. Candidate must feel comfortable talking about sex, HIV, and AIDS. Microsoft Word, Excel and/or Publisher experience a plus. Intern must have transportation.

      Schedule: Hours flexible and will include some nights and weekends.
